Junior MERN Stack Developer

About the Role

We are looking for a Junior MERN Stack Developer to join Aanandi and contribute to building real, production-grade web applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React, and Node.js. You will work closely with senior engineers who will guide and mentor you as you develop depth across the full JavaScript stack.

This is a role for someone who has foundational knowledge of the MERN stack, a strong desire to grow fast, and the discipline to write clean, reliable code from day one.

In This Role, You Will

• Build and maintain frontend features using React, including reusable components, forms, and API-connected views.
• Write backend routes and controllers using Node.js and Express.js under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Work with MongoDB to read and write data and understand basic schema design patterns.
• Integrate frontend components with REST APIs and debug issues across the full stack.
• Fix bugs across the codebase and contribute to improving overall product quality and stability.
• Write clean, readable JavaScript and TypeScript code that follows team standards and passes code review.
• Participate in code reviews and use feedback constructively to improve the quality of your work over time.
• Learn and apply state management basics using Redux or Context API in real product features.
• Participate in sprint ceremonies including standups, planning sessions, and retrospectives.
• Ask good questions, document what you learn, and grow your skills consistently week over week.

You Might Thrive in This Role If You

• Have 0 to 2 years of experience with the MERN stack through personal projects, internships, or early professional work.
• Have built at least one full stack project using React and Node.js that you can walk someone through end to end.
• Are comfortable with JavaScript (ES6+) and have a basic understanding of TypeScript or are eager to learn it.
• Understand how REST APIs work and have connected a frontend to a backend API before.
• Are a fast learner who does not wait to be told what to do and takes initiative to understand the codebase independently.
• Are comfortable with Git for version control and understand basic branching and pull request workflows.
• Care about the quality of what you ship and are not satisfied with code that works in development but breaks in production.

Bonus If You Have

Familiarity with Next.js or server-side rendering concepts.
Basic knowledge of cloud deployments on AWS, GCP, or similar platforms.
Exposure to Docker or containerised development environments.
A GitHub profile with MERN stack projects or open-source contributions.
Knowledge of basic database indexing and query optimisation in MongoDB.
